Four Tips for Overthinkers


Overthinking can lead to stress and anxiety, and it's important to find ways to shut off your brain. In this blog post, we'll discuss the benefits of "being" mode, where you can anchor yourself and experience the present moment. Here are some helpful steps to follow:

  1. Shift into "being" mode: When you're constantly in "doing" or "thinking" mode, it can increase your stress response. "Being" mode can help you ground yourself and find stillness.

  2. Anchor yourself: Imagine yourself as a weight that is tethered and grounded, rather than a balloon that is bouncing around. This way, you can observe your thoughts and bring your focus back to yourself.

  3. Focus on your senses: Our sensory system helps us process and intake information from our environment. In "being" mode, focus on what you're seeing, hearing, feeling, smelling, and even tasting. Enhance the sensory experience by adding calming music or holding a stress ball.

  4. Practice mindfulness: Allow yourself intentional breaks from "thinking" mode to shift into "being" mode. Even a few minutes a day can have benefits, including mental clarity and increased creativity.

By convincing your mind of the purpose and benefits of "being" mode, you can be more effective in problem-solving and planning. With these helpful steps, you can stop overthinking and find more peace and stillness in your life.
